I've been messing around with C++ for a few months but I would like to get serious about it. I've been teaching myself from the "C++ For Dummies" (The all-in-one edition, which contains 7 different "For Dummies" books on the subject). I like to learn by doing, and I'd like to expand the scope of what I'm learning by using simple little projects to help me pick up the pace a little on learning C++. What are some good "beginner" projects for someone with a little bit of experience like myself? Maybe something like a calculator or console calendar program. I feel like I learn better if I have an objective/goal to strive for. Any suggestions/advice is appreciated.
